How to draw a lantern
1) Draw a rectangle that will define the conditional proportions and boundaries of the chosen drawing.
2) From the middle of the rectangle, draw one vertical and one horizontal line equally dividing the shape.
3) Draw another horizontal line equally dividing the upper half of the rectangle. Similarly, draw a horizontal line equally dividing the bottom half of the rectangle.
4) Draw a vertical line equally dividing the left half of the rectangle. Similarly, draw a vertical line equally dividing the right half of the rectangle.
Mark off the width and height of the picture. Show, with light lines, the main proportions of the lantern.
Outline its shape.
Draw the base and the upper and lower parts of the cap.
Define the shape of the lantern cap and the inner part of the base.
Add lines to show the frame around the glass.
Draw a candle and the lantern handle. Draw lines to show the top of the cap and define the place for a lock.
Draw the base of the candle and its flame.
Contour, trying to vary the thickness and blackness of the line. Draw more details and a table. Erase all guidelines.
