How to draw a donkey

You can print out the base construction lines and start drawing on tracing paper or you can draw the grid layout yourself using the following steps… Show more
1) Draw a rectangle that will define the conditional proportions and boundaries of the chosen drawing.
2) From the middle of the rectangle, draw one vertical and one horizontal line equally dividing the shape.
3) Draw another horizontal line equally dividing the upper half of the rectangle. Similarly, draw a horizontal line equally dividing the bottom half of the rectangle.
4) Draw a vertical line equally dividing the left half of the rectangle. Similarly, draw a vertical line equally dividing the right half of the rectangle.

Mark off the width and height of the picture. Draw two ovals for the head and body of the donkey. Define the form of the head.

Add an oval to indicate a crupper and a rump. Define the shapes of the donkey’s back and neck.

Mark the proportions of the facial features and legs, add a line for the lower part of the neck.

Outline the donkey’s muzzle. Draw guidelines for the legs.

Draw the shapes for the donkey’s legs, chin and jaws.

Detail the legs and the face. Outline the knees, hocks and hoofs. Define the places for the eyes and the upper part of the tail.

Work on the whole shape, paying attention to details such as wrinkles, eyes, nostrils, shoulders, etc.

Contour the donkey, trying to vary the thickness and blackness of the line. Draw more details (bony skin, wrinkles) and the ground. Erase all guidelines.
